The Department is committed to fostering a culture of academic excellence and providing a comprehensive education for students at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels.

The Department is inviting applications for the position of Lecturer. We seek a dynamic teacher to collaborate with existing faculty to teach a wide range of courses with a primary focus on Chinese music.

Applicants should have: (i) a PhD or an accredited equivalent in music; (ii) a track record of teaching experience at the tertiary level; and (iii) knowledge of, and experience in, course and curriculum planning and coordination of performance activities, preferably with a focus on Chinese music. Candidates with a strong record of involvement in and collaboration with educational and performing arts organizations in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, knowledge of Chinese language and Chinese music performance practice, and teaching experience in multiple areas are preferred.

The appointee will (a) teach three courses, including general education courses, per semester; (b) coordinate performance activities in Chinese music; (c) provide academic guidance and advice to students; (d) contribute to the Department’s programme planning and coordination and enhance its visibility; and (e) provide overall academic and administrative support to the Department and the Centre for Chinese Music Studies.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years commencing August 2024, renewable subject to need, budget, performance and mutual agreement.
