The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is looking for a responsible, self-motivated and high-caliber individual to fill the position of Assistant Manager (Engineering). The appointee will assist the Engineer and researchers to design, implement and manage the engineering systems for R&D, and to provide support in project bidding, collaboration, promotion, technologies transfer and implementation of R&D results.        

Major duties of the appointee include:

• Designing and validating processes, equipment and systems;
• Materials selection for water and wastewater treatment projects;
• Project management, including design and cost review, equipment and materials procurement, installation work, testing and commissioning for water and wastewater projects;
• Carrying out testing and commissioning, and offering training to operation and maintenance team for water and wastewater projects;
• Preparing bid proposals for projects and contract negotiation with clients and vendors;
• Preparing tender specifications and arranging project tendering;
• Liaison with manufacturers and suppliers to introduce technologies and subsequent technologies transfer or implementation of R&D results to clients.

Applicants should have a master’s degree or above in environmental, chemical, civil or mechanical engineering with at least 6 years of relevant experience in water and wastewater engineering. The appointee should complete the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Formal Training Schemes (Scheme “A” Graduate Training). The ideal candidate is expected to be pro-active, innovative, responsible, detail-minded, well-organized and a good team player with a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua), as well as good planning, analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience in R&D for universities will be an advantage. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
