Formally established in 1991, the Department of Communication Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University is at the forefront of public relations and advertising research and education in Hong Kong. The Department invites applicants for a full-time position of Senior Lecturer or Lecturer. 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop and teach a range of skills-based courses in public relations and advertising, covering topics such as advertising copywriting, content creation, advertising design, sports public relations, public relations writing, communication training, and event management. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in integrating Web 3.0, AI tools and real-time data management into the curriculum.

Your responsibilities will involve engaging with professionals in the public relations and advertising sectors. This includes collaborating with industry practitioners, establishing industry partnerships, and incorporating real-world perspectives into teaching practices. You will also have many opportunities to invite guest speakers from the industry, oversee student internships, and prepare students for success in industry-organised competitions.

In addition, you will play a crucial role in contributing to departmental administrative tasks as needed to ensure smooth operations and overall success of the department.

Requirements:

  • A master’s degree in communication or a relevant area;
  • At least five years of experience in the public relations industry, advertising industry or related fields; and
  • Fluency in both English and Chinese (Cantonese or Putonghua).

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two or three years commencing August 2024. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to performance review and mutual agreement.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
